Turning the Town Blue
Each April, in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month, our community comes together to Turn the Town Blue—a powerful visual campaign designed to raise awareness and show support for children and families impacted by abuse. Throughout downtown Hagerstown, blue lamppost signs and blue flags line the streets from April 1–30, serving as visible reminders of our shared commitment to prevention, education, and advocacy.
Proceeds from the lamppost sign and flag fundraiser support Justice’s S.A.K.E., the Labor of Love Memory Box Perinatal Bereavement Support Project, and other local organizations dedicated to protecting and supporting children and families, including Children’s Village and CASA.
By sponsoring a sign or flag, individuals and businesses help amplify awareness, honor victims, and contribute to meaningful, life-changing services throughout our community. Together, we stand united—turning awareness into action. ๐

Justice’s S.A.K.E. Brings “Rock Me, Don’t Shake Me” to the Mummers’ Parade
Justice’s S.A.K.E. proudly participated in the Hagerstown Mummers’ Parade with a float themed “Rock Me, Don’t Shake Me,” bringing an important child abuse prevention message to the heart of the community.
The float highlighted the background and mission of Rock Me Don’t Shake Me (RMDSM), an initiative that uses music and creative engagement to raise awareness about the dangers of Shaken Baby Syndrome and the importance of protecting children. Through this vibrant parade presence, Justice’s S.A.K.E. shared the RMDSM message with families across the city in an accessible and memorable way.
A special highlight of the float was a live electric guitar performance by Parker, age 15, the son of a Justice’s S.A.K.E. board member, who energized the crowd and embodied the spirit of using music as a platform for advocacy. The float also featured giant custom rootbeer bottles, a fun callback to the popular rootbeer sold at the 2024 Rock Me Don’t Shake Me event.
Justice’s S.A.K.E. is grateful for the opportunity to spread awareness through community events like the Mummers’ Parade and remains committed to educating, engaging, and advocating for the safety and well-being of children.
